The World War I Monument of Prince Frederick stands centered in front of the main entrance to the Calvert County Courthouse on Route 765. Facing east, the monument is a high-relief bronze allegorical figure of War mounted in a white limestone stele on a granite base.

Erected in 1920 by the citizens of Calvert County, the monument is significant for its commemoration of soldiers and sailors of the county who served and died in the war. This monumental stele memorial, a type derived from the ancient Greek gravestone, is a representative example of the work of Baltimore sculptor Edward Berge. The architect of the monument was W. C. Beecher and the bronze was cast at the Roman Bronze Works in New York.
