The Elkton World War I Doughboy Memorial, dedicated in 1921, stands in front of the Maryland National Guard Armory, moved in 1941 from its original location on Main Street. The Vermont marble statue stands on a pedestal above a marble wall and stepped platform. The pedestal carries bronze plaques dedicated to those who died in World War II and to veterans of all wars. The platform is flanked by marble piers topped with lamps what were fabricated to match the originals when the monument was cleaned and repointed in 1994. In 1997 the monument was landscaped with contributions from the Elkton Memorial VFW Post 8175.
